[Book Review] Discovery of India by Jawaharlal Nehru

What is this book about? This book is about history of India starting from ancient times till 1940s. Though it is a broad subject, Nehru does a good job at it not missing any major beats of history overall. Till the time before British rule starts it majorly takes historical perspective but when talking of British rule, tone of the book is historical and also political rather than being only historical probably because the author is so deeply involved in the politics of the time. What are the positives? Nehru is very well informed of broad range of subjects such as art, history, politics, economics. So most of the times he is able to give comprehensive picture of many historical events. His approach is one of rational and objective observer.                    He adds personal touch most of the times while explaining which makes it more interesting. [Short Story ] The Ultimate Search

Siddarth is restless. An idea took root in his mind and wouldn’t let him settle. He wants to see the most beautiful thing in this world. Determined to find the answer, he decided to put the question to his philosopher and guide, his mother. “Mother, please tell me what is the most beautiful thing in this world?”, asked Siddarth. “You need to go the top of highest mountain in the north. You need to cross mountains, rivers, valleys to find it. It’s not an easy journey, so be very careful.
