As we can expect from the novel, Swetcha is a story about struggle
for freedom. Volga is a writer with progressive thoughts. She discusses
gender roles in personal and public contexts. Her deep desire that women
should have freedom to take decisions in families and also in public
life is visible in this story. She also touches upon the issues like
women not having control over their bodies and unable to choose abortion
